As of 1st July, new leases are subject to rent control measures.

The experiment will be ongoing for 5 years through to 2023, in compliance with the “Elan” law (évolution of housing, development and digital technology).

This rent control forces Paris landlords to fix the rental level of their property to equate to the reference rent scale, calculated by the OLAP (Observatory of Rents in the Paris Agglomeration) and fixed by the administration.

Obviously, the limitations vary depending on the locality, type of rental (vacant or occupied), number of rooms and the construction date of the building.
